The organisation FundsXML.org administrates the XML patterns with the aim to establish these patterns as a unified standard. For this reason each company and single person shall be allowed to download and use these file formats and the documentations and files going with them from the FundsXML website. This is why FundsXML.org decided to put all patterns, files and documentations going with them under the Mozilla Public Licence (MPL).

The MPL ensures that everyone can download and use the corresponding files for internal developments. When using the downloaded files the licence entry may not be removed from the files. The developments may be altered or modified. If this is the case, all alterations and modifications have to be published under the Mozilla Public Licence (MPL). The alterations and modifications have to be documented in the licence entries of the corresponding files. The precise legal definitions can be found at the Mozilla Public Licence (MPL) website.
